settling the conflict

The opportunity – profitable next-generation services

The Internet is everywhere. Literally, service providers use the Internet for all kinds of communications. Wireless, mobile, fixed and cable are already based on IP, and now we’re on the cusp of a whole new era in which real-time video, IPTV, cellular voice, fixed voice and business-critical transactions will be commonplace on the Internet. Soon, the world will have all these advanced services, cost-effectively delivered via one network using one technology. For service providers, that means less to build, less to operate, less to manage and less to maintain. In other words, more opportunities for profit.

But there’s also a problem. A big problem.

The conflict – unacceptable service quality

As it exists today, IP is not optimized for delivering high-quality, next-generation, real-time services. IP networks have been designed to carry large volumes of “best-effort” traffic, but this is not good enough for the next generation of real-time services.  Essentially, when they were designed, the service control plane and the network control plane were intended to function separately, never to work together in harmony. The resulting gap between these two layers makes it impossible for operators to ensure trouble-free service delivery.

The resolution – IP service assurance from NetSocket

NetSocket’s unique solution bridges the gap between the service control plane and the network control plane to provide every function necessary for comprehensive IP service assurance (real-time visibility, resource control and policy control.) Using Session2Topology™ correlation, the NetSocket Resource Control Point (RCP) obtains and analyzes real-time topology information from the routers and switches along with session information that it acquires from service control plane equipment. Analyzing both sets of data, the RCP gives the operator visibility of every session in the network and an understanding of how events impact specific sessions. Also, Session2Topology correlation helps the carrier perform real-time, network-wide resource control. Finally, the RCP’s powerful policy interfaces provide guaranteed QoS for services and sessions. The end-result is high-quality, state-of-the-art communications with improved customer satisfaction.

Service providers can apply NetSocket’s solution to a variety of advanced IP services including mobile, wireless, VoIP, IPTV/VoD, VPN and others. In other words, the future of communications is here – reliably, cost-effectively and peacefully.
