NetSocket Closes $5 Million in Series B Funding.

PLANO, Texas – November 6, 2009 – NetSocket, the first real°time IP service assurance provider, has closed a $5.0 million Series B funding round led by Dallas-based Trailblazer Capital. Existing investors Sevin Rosen Funds and Silver Creek Ventures also participated in this round.

NetSocket will use the additional capital to accelerate its current success with its industry-first real-time IP service assurance products in the enterprise, defense and wireless markets. Specifically, NetSocket will continue strengthening its management and technical teams, establish and serve new customers, and expand its distribution channels.

NetSocket's patented software solutions correlate previously unconnected information from the network, media and service/application layers of IP networks to improve the end-user experience, troubleshooting and overall business value of real-time IP services such as voice-over-IP (VoIP) and videoconferencing/telepresence.

“Our ability to add a new lead investor in this challenging economy is a remarkable testament to NetSocket's potential to revolutionize the delivery of real-time voice and video services over existing IP networks,” said Ken Lewis, president and CEO of NetSocket. “We're also gratified to have our existing investors participating in this round, as well.”

NetSocket's real-time IP service assurance approach addresses a fundamental problem with IP networks: They were not designed to run real-time voice, video and other communications services with the level of quality and availability that end users demand. As a result, it is enormously costly and time-consuming to troubleshoot the services when problems arise, and it is essentially impossible to prevent problems from occurring. NetSocket is the first to deliver simultaneous visibility and control across network layers – leveraging existing investments in networking equipment while making formerly disparate data accessible and usable in ways not previously possible.

“NetSocket has a novel and very creative solution that overcomes a serious roadblock in the widespread deployment of real-time services such as VoIP, telepresence, IPTV and VPNs [virtual private networks],” said Joel Fontenot, managing partner of Trailblazer Capital. “We are extremely impressed with NetSocket's team and their approach to real-time IP service assurance, and we're confident they will be highly successful in meeting real-world needs of enterprises, government agencies and wireless carriers worldwide.”
