NetSocket Receives $12.8 Million in Series A Funding.
PLANO, Texas – April 30, 2007 – NetSocket, the first real-time IP service assurance provider, has received $12.8 million in Series A funding from two leading venture capital funds: Sevin Rosen Funds and Silver Creek Ventures.
NetSocket is using the funds to acquire new customers and continue building distribution channels for its industry-first real-time IP service assurance products. NetSocket's patented software solutions correlate previously unconnected information from the network, media and service/application layers of IP networks to improve the end-user experience, troubleshooting and overall business value of real-time IP services such as voice-over-IP (VoIP) and telepresence.
“We are fortunate to be funded by two world-class venture funds, who see the potential in our unique software approach to real-time IP service assurance,” said Ken Lewis, president and CEO of NetSocket.
IP networks were not designed for easy management and troubleshooting of voice, video and other real-time services. NetSocket's real-time IP service assurance approach is the first to deliver simultaneous visibility and control across network layers – leveraging existing investments in networking equipment while making formerly disparate data accessible and usable in ways not previously possible.
“Working closely with NetSocket over the past two years, I've been extremely impressed with the team and the innovative approach they're taking,” said Jon Bayless, general partner of Sevin Rosen Funds. “NetSocket is the first company to offer a real-time IP service assurance solution that effectively bridges the long-standing divide between services and their underlying networks. The IP network space is so crowded right now with new technologies and solutions that continue to demand more network bandwidth while also depending on high network reliability. NetSocket will help ensure these current and future applications and services continue to run smoothly.”
“Both enterprises and carriers are working toward a world where more and more real-time services will be carried over IP networks,” said Michael Segrest, general partner of Silver Creek Ventures. “NetSocket's innovative approach will ensure that those IP networks can continue to provide new, profitable services – such as IPTV, telepresence and other bandwidth-intensive applications – at scale, and without negatively impacting the overall network quality. Providing real-time network service visibility and control has been NetSocket's strategy from the very beginning.”
